Minecraft dupes are the act of using a glitch within the game to create copies or duplicates of items with the goal of using these items to the player’s advantage, such as building or PvP. Dupes on 2b2t have been a part of its culture since early 2011 whenever players duplicated valuable resources such as diamonds.
-Duplication Glitches Across History-
There are simply too many duplication glitches to name them all, however dupes like the donkey dupe, Pyro dupe, restart dupe, end portal donkey dupe, and much more have been prominent public dupes throughout the years. Dupes like the donkey dupe were significant because they were efficient and created hundreds of shulkers of items per hour.
Dupes are still being discovered to this day with players using modules such as “entity desync”, and specific game breaking exploits that mess with the game’s code to manipulate the game into duplicating items.
-Economy Of 2b2t-
Every kit you see on 2b2t is duplicated, with the original most likely being lost to the ages or eaten by the server. Kits on 2b2t are a highly efficient way of distributing items throughout the server, such as PvP kits, building kits, rare item kits, ect. Duplication glitches allowed for kits to be produced in mass quantity making things like 2b2t shops as well as mega dupe stashes possible. Players are always looking for the newest dupes and are even willing to pay hundreds of dollars in some cases, with dupes like the once private “Redstoner Dupe” in 2021 being sold to buyers.
-Modern Day State Of Duping-
With duplication glitches being as overpowered as they are, it's no secret that everyone is trying to get their hands on one. Hausemaster has patched duplication glitches on a mass scale and doesn’t seem like he will stop anytime soon, so private dupes (or dupes not available to the public) are the only surviving dupes to this day due to players either reporting these glitches to Hausemaster or Hausemaster finding out about them. Players have resorted to finding their own dupes and coding their own clients with specific modules just to break the game enough to produce just a few shulkers at a time just to get by on 2b2t. The 2b2t anti-cheat has prevented dupes time and time again yet there will always be another dupe, whether it is far around the corner or nearby.
-Conclusion-
Duplicating items is a daunting task due to the amount of effort one has to put in for no guarantee of success, so normal players just wait for public dupes or buy dupes off of private dupe owners just to get their hands on one. Waiting for public dupes seems to be the slowest, but the best way to get around the issue of dwindling items. Almost every player on the server relies on already duplicated resources to get by on the server by stash hunting, raiding, and buying. The economy of 2b2t seems to be at a standstill with only the most elite players getting access to the dupes, however eventually one always seeps through the cracks.
